Director James Wan used his Instagram account to reveal that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom officially started his recordings. The most interesting thing about this ad is the temporary title they gave to the film: necro.
During the first installment, Arthur Curry, who is played by Jason Momoa, learns that the empire of Atlantis created seven kingdoms under the sea, among which is Necrus, the lost kingdom, which gives rise to that in this sequel we can know a little more about its history.
Aquaman 2 will be directed by Wan, who just released the hit movie The Conjuring 3. The sequel will be produced by Peter Safran and will be, according to different sources and Momoa himself, much more serious and relevant than the previous one.
In addition to Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Dolph Lundgren, and Amber Heard will return to play Orm, Black Manta, Nereus, and Mera, respectively. It is not yet known if Nicole Kidman and Willem Dafoe will return as Atlanta and Vulko.
Based on the characters created for DC Comics by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger in 1941, Aquaman managed to gross more than a billion dollars in theaters around the world, making it the highest-grossing DC movie for Warner Bros.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom It is scheduled to hit the big screen on December 16, 2022.
