Italian automaker Iveco on Monday unveiled a prototype of the eDaily hydrogen-powered van developed together with Hyundai, the first result of a broader partnership between the two companies.
The automakers signed a preliminary agreement in March to explore cooperation in shared-vehicle technology, joint sourcing and mutual sourcing.
The eDaily van has a range of 350 kilometers, a maximum payload of 3 tonnes and is equipped with Hyundai’s 90 kilowatt (kW) hydrogen fuel cell system and 140 kW electric motor, Iveco said in a statement. The vehicle battery is supplied by FPT Industrial, Iveco’s transmission unit.
The company also said on Monday that it is evaluating other collaboration options with Hyundai, from cross-selling products in selected regions to joint developments in vehicle automation and connectivity.
Iveco added that Hyundai is considering supply opportunities with FPT Industrial in the area of next-generation conventional transmissions for commercial vehicles.
