Students who had gathered for an entrance exam at a university in Tokyo, were injured today Saturday by the attack of a gunman with a knife, according to Japanese media.
According to the state-run NHK network, three people were injured this morning when a student attacked them with a sharp object while they were gathering to take the entrance exam.
The alleged perpetrator, a 17-year-old student, was arrested, according to the Asahi newspaper.
About half a million students in Japan take the annual university entrance exams this week.
Tokyo police declined to give details of the attack, but did not confirm any arrests.
Last October, a man dressed as a Joker in a Batman movie stabbed 17 train passengers in Tokyo. Many travelers left screaming in the wagons, some jumping out of windows to escape. A few months earlier, there had been another knife attack on a train in the Japanese capital, with several injured.
