Jill Biden, Kamala Harris and all the other outfits for the Inauguration Concert

One in white, the other in black: the alpha and omega of fashion to send inclusive messages to the nation and to the world also from a sartorial point of view. On the occasion of virtual concert filmed outside the Lincoln Memorial, accompanied by pre-recorded messages, Jill Biden and Kamala Harris continued the couture speech started a few hours before taking the oath. Ok, the traditional gala ball due to the Covid-19 restrictions did not take place, but in any case there are many outfits that have made real style statements, and more.

Starting with that of the First Lady who opted for another suit / coat. After the aquamarine one by Markarian worn for the settlement, for the evening he chose to go blank, color that, on the world stage, represents an ode to the suffragettes. The label Flotus has focused on this time is Gabriela Hearst (whose designer, originally from Uruguay but based in New York, has been appointed creative director of Chloé). The dress with embroidered flowers representing those of the American states (an intentional gesture that signals the importance of national unity) was paired with an elegant ivory coat while hanging with gloves.

Kamala Harris opted, instead, for a total black look by Sergio Hudson. The cocktail dress, covered in sequins, was paired with a long tuxedo-style overcoat in silk. “I kept the silhouette very structured to reflect his role as vice president. But the sequins give it charm and shine, because its influence and the way it broke the barriers is a light to so many of us. It shines so we can all shine », said the same color designer, also chosen for the oath, about the look.

The four grandchildren of President Biden also sparked, offspring of the sons Hunter and Beau (the latter missing for several years): per Natalie, Finnegan and Naomi cocktail dress by Markarian, while Maisy chose a Rodarte outfit paired with Nike sneakers (this is definitely the year of sneakers in politics). Ashley, on the other hand, the only daughter of Joe and Jill, wore a chic Ralph Lauren tuxedo with an untied bow tie in a combo with stiletto heels: between bling bling dresses and bodices, she has definitely found a way to be sophisticated and cool.

Demi Lovato is also wearing a complete jacket and trousers, which she performed during the evening. The power suit by Stella McCartney, consisting of blazer oversize and high-waisted trousers, is in the trendy Pantone 2021 Ultimate Gray nuance and combined with cream heels like the under jacket.

Very elegant, in total white like Jill and first Jennifer Lopez, finally, Katy Perry. The pop star, applauded by the President and the First Lady from the balcony of the White House, sang her hit Firework at the end of the event under a sky illuminated by fireworks. Katy wore a Thom Brown ensemble: cashmere coat, satin corset and long skirt. The look played with the all-American iconography that the singer has always loved, but in a discreet way. The overcoat features blue satin-covered buttons along the sleeves and red buttons at the hem of the bodice and side seams of the skirt, thus subtly alluding to the hues of the USA flag.

Fashion, as always, speaks and communicates. And, right now, there is a lot to say, even through the wardrobe.
