Jimmy Kimmel has been announced as host of the Oscar ceremony for the fourth time. The 56-year-old comedian, who has already led the awards in 2017, 2018 and earlier this year, is excited to take the reins of the 96th annual event, scheduled for March 10th.
“I always dreamed of receiving the Oscar exactly four times”, joked the presenter when confirming the news.
Additionally, Molly McNearney, wife of Kimmel and one of the writers for his talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, will serve as executive producer on the broadcast.
“I’m especially honored to be part of the Oscars team this year when we’re all eager to get back to work,” said Molly.
Thanks and compliments to the couple
Oscar organizers expressed excitement about having Jimmy in charge of cinema’s biggest night, which will take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.
“We are thrilled to have Jimmy return as host and Molly to serve as executive producer of the Oscars. They share our love of film and our commitment to producing dynamic and entertaining programming for our global audience. We are deeply grateful to Jimmy, Molly and their teams for their incredible creativity and partnership and for embarking on this journey with us again,” said CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang.
Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will also serve as executive producers for the ceremony and said they are honored to be working with the couple.
“Jimmy has established himself as one of the greatest Oscar hosts of all time with his perfect blend of humanity and humor, and Molly is one of the best live TV producers in the business. We are immensely pleased to be working with them and their teams on the program,” they said.
