Joe Biden mistakes Vice President Kamala Harris for Donald Trump at press conference

Joe Biden, President of the United States, confused Vice President Kamala Harris with Donald Trump, the Republican Party candidate for the 2024 elections, during a press conference this Thursday (11).

Biden was asked about internal pressure within the Democratic Party to drop his candidacy and how he sees Harris performing against Trump if she is chosen to replace him.

“I would not have chosen Vice President Trump to be Vice President if I did not think she was unqualified. (sic) to be president,” he said.

The president then pointed out that he is the most qualified person to run for president and highlighted that he defeated Trump before and that he will defeat him again.

He further stated that he still has “more work to finish.”

At another point, Biden praises Harris

Biden reinforced at another point in the press conference that Kamala Harris is qualified to occupy the White House.

“I wouldn’t have chosen her unless I thought she was qualified to be president. I’ve made no secret of that from the beginning. She is qualified to be president — that’s why I chose her,” he said.

Furthermore, he highlighted the vice president’s actions in relation to women’s reproductive rights — abortion is one of the main points of the 2024 US election.

“The way she handled the issue of women’s body freedom — having control over their bodies. Secondly, her ability to handle almost any issue on the bench. This was an incredible prosecutor. She was a top-notch person in the Senate — she was very good,” Biden said.

Confusing Zelensky with Putin

Just hours before this press conference, Joe Biden confused the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, with the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, during a speech after the NATO Summit, the Western military alliance.

This happened when Biden introduced Zelensky to the audience, stating: “and now I want to move on [a palavra] to the President of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination. Ladies and gentlemen, President Putin.”

The American leader realized his mistake and returned to the pulpit to correct himself.

When asked about the gaffe during the second press conference, Biden admitted that he had made a mistake, but stressed that he had corrected himself and commented that the NATO Summit was a success.
