Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner agree to keep kids in New York temporarily while divorce progresses

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas are keeping their two young children in New York for now as part of a temporary legal settlement filed on Monday, according to documents. The two stars are getting divorced after four years of marriage.

Last week, Turner sued Jonas, seeking the return of his children to London.

But an interim consent order obtained by CNN and presented in New York shows that the “Game Of Thrones” actress and the Jonas Brothers singer reached a temporary agreement to keep their daughters, born in 2020 and 2022, in the United States.

“The parties have agreed to the entry of the attached proposed Interim Consent Order, without prejudice to the claims and defenses of either party, prohibiting the removal of the parties’ children from the jurisdictions of the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York awaiting further order from this Court,” the documents state.

In her petition last week, Turner described the couple’s efforts over the past year to find their “forever home” in England and that, before the end of their marriage, they mutually agreed to settle in the United Kingdom.

Their children “are fully involved and integrated into all aspects of daily and cultural life” in England, according to the petition, which also states that they anticipate purchasing a new home, for which they have been in contract negotiations and planned. close soon, in December.

“Joe is seeking joint custody of the children. He also agrees with the children being raised in the US and UK,” his representative told CNN in a statement in time.

“The children were born in the US and spent most of their lives in the US. They are American citizens.”

Jonas and Urner got married in 2019. Jonas filed for divorce in Florida earlier this month.

“After four years of a wonderful marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they wrote in a joint statement to announce their plans to split.

“There are many speculative narratives as to why, but in truth, this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for ourselves and our children.”
