JOLTs job openings rise to 7.4 million in February from 6.9 million expected

  • JOLTs’ US job openings continued to rise in February.
  • The US Dollar DXY Index remains in negative territory below 92.50 after the data.

The number of vacant positions on the last business day of February was 7.4 millionthe US Bureau of Labor Statistics announced Tuesday in its latest Job Vacancy and Turnover Summary (JOLTS) on Tuesday. This reading was higher than the market expectation of 6.9 million.

“Hires also rose to 5.7 million, while total separations changed little to 5.5 million,” the publication read. “Within the separations, the resignation rate and the rate of layoffs and dismissals remained unchanged at 2.3% and 1.2%, respectively.”
