Kicking off the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, the competition jury chaired by Greta Gerwig walked the red carpet this Tuesday morning (14) and spoke to the press there. The opening of the event is scheduled for this afternoon, which will already be night in France.
Artists of different nationalities make up the group responsible for choosing the competition's winners. This year, the jury is made up of: Erbu Ceylan Turkish screenwriter and photographer; Lily Gladstone American actress; Eva Green French actress; Nadine Labaki Lebanese actress; Juan Antonio Bayona Spanish director, producer and screenwriter; Pierfranceso Favino Italian actor; Kore-Eda Hirokaxu , Japanese director; It is Omar Sy French actor and producer.
The festival is preparing to welcome big names from the film industry, such as Francis Ford Coppola , George Lucas , Kevin Costner , Meryl Streep , Paolo Sorrentino , Yorgos Lanthimos and more.
Over the next 12 days, dozens of films will be shown at the event and 20 will compete for the festival's main prize, the Palme d'Or. Are they:

The Cannes Film Festival runs until May 25th, but the winners in the Feature Film categories will be announced on the 22nd.
