The São Paulo Court of Justice denied in a decision handed down this week, the revocation of the preventive detention of Igor Sauceda, 27 years old, accused of running over and killing motorcycle courier Pedro Kaique Ventura Figueiredo at the end of last month after an alleged traffic dispute. The incident took place in the south zone of São Paulo.
According to the document from judge Isabel Begalli, of the 3rd Jury Court, the arrest remains in force since “there has been no factual change” since the decision “which ordered the arrest of the accused”.
The judge’s decision highlights that Sauceda had “aggressive and threatening behavior” and had used the same car involved in the accident to “intimidate people he knew”, facts that, according to the judge, represent “a risk to public order”.
“The presence of favorable personal conditions, such as first-time offenders, lawful employment and fixed residence, do not, in themselves, guarantee the revocation of preventive detention if there are elements in the records capable of recommending the maintenance of precautionary custody,” he added.
On social media, lawyer Roberto Guastelli, who represents the victim’s family, stated that “justice is being served.”

MP’s complaint
Earlier this month, Igor was charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of São Paulo with triple-qualified homicide.
The complaint indicated that the Porsche driver had acted with the intention of killing, for a futile reason and using cruel means, without giving the victim the opportunity to defend himself.
The MP’s request was accepted by the Court based on evidence of authorship and proof of the materiality of the crime.
Remember the case
The accident occurred at around 1:20 a.m. on July 29 of this year. Witnesses claim that Sauceda deliberately crashed his car into the motorcycle after an argument in traffic. The motorcycle courier Pedro Kaique was rescued, but did not survive his injuries and died in hospital.
