Kamala says Trump’s comments about immigrants in Ohio are ‘a disgrace’

US Vice President Kamala Harris has denounced false rumors about immigrants in Ohio promoted by former President Donald Trump and vice presidential candidate JD Vance. Harris said the rumors on the issue were “a crying shame.”

“I learned a long time ago in my career, having experience as a prosecutor, that when you have these positions, when you have this type of microphone in front of you, you really have to understand on a very deep level how much your words have meaning,” Kamala said at a National Association of Black Journalists panel on Tuesday (17).

She added that “most people in this country, regardless of their race, are starting to see through this nonsense,” which she said “we should have no tolerance for.”

Republicans including JD Vance have spread false claims about Haitian immigrants eating pets in Springfield, Ohio.

The allegations, which have been widely debunked, have made their way to the national stage. Trump further pushed the false narrative during his first debate against Harris, when he said, “In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs. The people who came in, they’re eating the cats.”
