Kate Middleton apologizes for not participating in official event

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales who is undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer, has written to an army regiment to apologize for missing a military parade on Saturday, adding that she hopes to return very soon.

“Being your Colonel continues to be a great honor and I am very sorry that I cannot receive the salute of this year’s Colonel’s Review,” Kate wrote in a letter to the regimental chief of the Irish Guards.

“Please convey my apologies to the entire Regiment, but I hope to be able to represent you all once again very soon,” she wrote in the letter, dated June 3 and published in X this Saturday (8) by the Irish Guard.

British Prince William, heir to the throne, said last month that Kate, his wife, was “fine”. She said in March that she was undergoing treatment after the cancer was discovered following abdominal surgery earlier this year.

The Colonel’s Review takes place a week before a high-profile parade to mark the monarch’s birthday, part of the Trooping the Color celebrations. Kate is a colonel in the Irish Guards, who is taking part in the event.
