The 159 students of Kestekidei have been looking for a new home since Wednesday, March 15 schoolof the purely Greek school of Brussels, which has a kindergarten, primary and secondary education.
The press office of the Embassy of Greece in Belgium confirmed to AMPE that the building in which the purely Greek school is housed was closed, as inappropriate for the safety of students and teachers. The unsuitability of the building was judged by a group of technical experts from the Ministry of Education, who inspected the building that houses the Greek school in the municipality of Saint-Gilles of Brussels.
On March 15, the Ministry of Education informed the Brussels Education Council about this and the same day the school was closed. The Embassy of Greece in Belgium, in collaboration with the Greek community of Brussels and the Metropolis of Belgium, are looking for a new building to house the students of the Greek school, as soon as possible. Until then, Greek school students will continue their lessons online.
The building in which the Greek school of Brussels has been housed since the 1970s, is a donation of the businessman Leonidas Kestekides, founder of the well-known chocolate factory “Leonidas”.
