Kremlin vs. US and EU: Promises retaliatory sanctions on Navalny

Russia is turning against the United States and the European Union, with the Kremlin saying it would reciprocate the sanctions imposed on Moscow for treating the opposition politician. Alexei Navalny.

Speaking to a news conference with reporters, his spokesman Kremlin Dmitry Peshkov, according to the Athens News Agency, said that Moscow would respond to the sanctions in a way that would better serve its interests.

«Of course, it is impossible not to apply the principle of reciprocity“Asked how Russia would respond to the latest sanctions,” Peshkov said.

The United States imposed yesterday, Tuesday, sanctions against seven high-ranking Russian officials, including the head of the Russian security service FSB. Washington has worked closely with the European Union, which has largely imposed symbolic sanctions on four high-ranking Russian officials close to President Vladimir Putin.

Peshkov warned that the sanctions would have a negative effect on Russia’s bilateral relations with both the US and the EU.
