Large illegal mining farm found in Stavropol Territory

Specialists of Rosseti North Caucasus discovered a large mining farm in the Shpakovsky district of the Stavropol Territory. Together with law enforcement officers, 66 ASIC miners were seized.

It is reported that a resident of the village of Nadezhda has placed a fairly large mining farm in his house. He illegally connected to the power grid and installed a step-down transformer substation to power the equipment. According to power engineers, the underground miner consumed about 954,000 kWh. The cost of energy is over 6 million rubles.

“Currently, power engineers have successfully worked out and are using a mechanism for detecting cases of alleged energy theft. Our specialists identify offenders, including by the volume of electricity consumed and changes in the load on the section of the power grid,” said Yury Korolev, Deputy Director of the Department for Security and Anti-Corruption of Rosseti North Caucasus.

Given that the amount of damage is large, the underground miner may face criminal liability.

Earlier it was reported that several residents of Tomsk stole electricity in the amount of 24 million rubles to power mining equipment and a hotel building.
