Xiaomi has begun to distribute the MIUI 12.5 branded shell update for the Russian version of the budget smartphone Redmi 8.
At the moment, MIUI 12.5.1.0.QCNRUXM firmware has a stable status, but is distributed among a limited number of users. When the manufacturer is convinced that there are no major problems, widespread distribution will begin.
MIUI 12.5 brings significant improvements in performance, speed, battery consumption, new note-taking tools, freehand drawing tools, a special gesture for taking notes and tasks anywhere on the system, and so on.
In addition to the standard MIUI 12.5 innovations, the update also brings the July 2021 Android security update.
The budget smartphone Redmi 8 was released in Russia with MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie in November 2019 at a price of 9,990 rubles. Apparently, MIUI 12.5 will be the last big update for Redmi 8. Since the preliminary lists for receiving MIUI 13, the Redmi 8 smartphone either does not appear at all, or is marked as “may not receive”.
