The Ministry of Labor and Welfare published a new rule for Social Security policyholders who need to undergo a medical examination to apply for the temporary disability benefit, the former sickness allowance.
Approved in the Senate last Tuesday (3), the measure authorizes the waiver of in-person medical expertise in cases where the deadline between scheduling and carrying out exams exceeds 30 days, both for new requests and for those that already have a date. checked.
From now on, the benefit can be released based on documentary analysis of medical certificates and reports, which must be submitted from the Meu INSS application or through the meu.inss.gov.br website.
According to published on the Ministry’s official website, the measure aims to simplify the granting of benefits from the National Social Security Institute (INSS) and reduce waiting time.
The certificate, in addition to being legible and without erasures, must contain:
- Applicant’s full name
- Date of issuance of the document (which cannot be more than 30 days from the date of entry of the application)
- Information about the disease or ICD
- Signature and stamp of the professional with the registration of the Class Council
- Start date and estimated time of removal.
The benefits that are granted through the analysis of documents cannot last longer than 90 days, says the publication. To apply for a new benefit without face-to-face assistance, 30 days must have passed since the last analysis performed.
Check out the step-by-step process for sending medical documents below:
1) Registration of documentation in the My INSS application or website
The insured who seeks to undergo remote expertise must access the website or application Meu INSS, click on “Schedule Expertise” and then on “Initial Expertise”. Once the minimum requirements for document analysis have been met, the insured must click on “Yes” and “Continue”.
2) Inform the nature of the accident or illness
The next step is to inform if the request is an accident at work. If the benefit is of an accidental nature, the expert examination must be carried out in person.
3) Fill in personal and contact details
Next, you need to provide identifying information and contact details. Afterwards, the insured must answer a series of questions about the documents to be attached.
4) Choose service units
The insured must enter the zip code of residence to check the nearest service units and select the preferred one.
In situations in which the document analysis is allowed by the medical expert, that is, those in which the date of scheduling and the examination is more than 30 days old, a screen will open to choose the place to receive the payment and order completion.
If the benefit is not granted due to non-compliance with the requirements established in the ordinance, the insured person may schedule an in-person medical examination.
