LeBron James will remain in Los Angeles until 2025, as he agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Lakers for $97.1 million.
The four-time NBA champion is entering the final year of his contract and the management of the California team was quick to “tie” him with the “king” saying “yes”. The second season in his new contract provides for a player option, that is, James will be able to decide whether he will stay or not.
The Lakers announced today (8/17) that they will retire No. 16, the jersey worn by Spanish international Pau Gasol on March 7, 2023, when they host the Memphis Grizzlies. Gasol played seven seasons with Los Angeles (2008-14) leading the Lakers to back-to-back NBA titles in 2009 and 2010. Of his six NBA All-Star Game appearances, three were of his tenure with the Lakers (2009-2011).
