Libya: 300 mercenaries will leave the country “at the request of France”

Three hundred “mercenaries and foreign fighters” with an active presence in areas controlled by the forces of the strong man of the east Libya, Caliph Haftar, will be repatriated “at the request of France”, which will host a high – level conference for the country tomorrow, Friday.

More specifically, representatives of the faithful to General Haftar Libyan National Army (LES) stated that “the LES administration decided to leave the country a first group of 300 mercenaries and foreign fighters”, adding that they made this decision at “the request of France”.

Participation of Greece in the Conference in France

It is reminded that the International Conference on Libya is a French initiative co-organized with Germany, Italy, Libya (invited by the President of the Presidential Council Mohamed Menfi and the Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dibeba and it seems that both will participate) and the UN Secretariat.

Among other things, Greece will participate in this initiative. In his own intervention in it, the Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis – who travels to France on Friday Is expected to repeat them Greek positions for Libya to comply with the agreed timetable for holding elections, to fully implement the ceasefire agreement of 23 October 2020 and to withdraw all foreign troops, foreign forces and mercenaries as soon as possible.
