Video games and virtual reality ‘made in Greece’ by eNVy softworks and V. Karavasilis

The -literally µ γ magic world of electronic games … is explored and not only by Vassilis.

Hailing from Sofades, Karditsa, the 28-year-old graduate student of the Department of Patras, University of Patras, has been self-taught in the design of electronic games for 19 years and is active in the game-making community of the country. as organizer of the Global Game Jam Patras since 2015.

Today he is Managing Director of eNVy softworks, the company he founded in 2017, together with Konstantinos Koukoudis, with equity, in Patras, when the two of them decided to marry the new technologies with art. In 2019, the core of the group was completed by Konstantinos Mourelas, taking on the role of Art Director.

ENVy softworks designs and develops video games and interactive media for use in education, marketing, culture and entertainment. Utilizing augmented reality technologies in combination with cutting-edge technologies (IoT, Computer Vision, etc.), it has implemented a wide range of products, from AR experiences of antiquities and VR platforms for training professionals to dangerous professionals.

In 2021, with dozens of customers worldwide, eNVy softworks shows a steady upward trend, with 50% annual growth, and fully employs 7 people. It is one of the first companies of the Elevate Greece Registry.

Through her participation in competitions (Mindspace Challenge, MITEF etc.) and international exhibitions (TIF, White Nights etc.), she has received distinctions from important bodies (Goethe Institut, HEDNO, Ministry of Culture, BSE, The People’s Trust) . At the same time, it collaborates with academics in Greece, Sweden and England, but also with game publishing companies such as Microsoft, Valve and Oculus (Facebook).

Currently, with partial funding from EKOME, it is developing its first commercial game entitled “Basements & Basilisks”, which is expected to be released in mid-2022.

As for Vassilis, he has received mentoring from Rob Salafia (MIT) and Marina Hatsopoulos (Inkbit), while he also guides emerging professionals in the fields of entrepreneurship and game development. He has exhibited and won awards at international digital art festivals.

Methodology: Out of the more than 100 nominations collected by “Forbes” – either through applications of the interested parties themselves or through proposals from institutions and competent bodies – the editorial team made a first selection and came up with 50. The jury, which consisted of Mr. Spyros Theodoropoulos (CEO of Chipita), Nikos Karamouzis (former President of Eurobank and the Hellenic Banking Association, President of Grant Thornton), Michalis Bletsas (Director of Informatics at MIT Media Lab), Theocharos Filipos Capital.gr, president of Attica Publications), evaluated the 50 candidacies with scores from 1 (lowest) to 4 (highest), based on which the final ranking was formed. The order of publication is defined according to the members’ rating (from highest to lowest) and then alphabetically. Conditions for participation in the list “Forbes 30 Under 30 Greece 2022” were met by those born from 1/1/1992 onwards.
