What is it?

It is a vertical line of a dark tone that forms in the center of the belly during pregnancy and begins in the abdomen and passes through the navel until it reaches the pubis.

Experts say that this line is a white fibrous structure, but due to hormonal changes, it turns brown and is usually more noticeable in brown skin. In isolated cases it may be accompanied by hair.

When does it appear?

The linea alba becomes noticeable from the fourth or fifth month of pregnancy. However, there are cases in which it does not appear and others in which its coloration is very intense. It all depends on each organism.

Why?

This appears due to hormonal changes during pregnancy, at which time estrogens and progesterone promote greater production of melanin, causing hyperpigmentation.

The line disappears after delivery due to the hormonal levels being regularized. Remember to take care of the sun, consume folic acid and use moisturizer to carry a healthy process.
