LIVE: The discussion of SYRIZA’s motion of censure in Parliament

With the positions of SYRIZA MPs Dimitris Tzanakopoulos and Mariliza Xenogiannakopoulou, the debate on the motion of censure against the government, which was submitted yesterday by the leader of the official opposition Alexis Tsipras, began in the Parliament. “Crisis (pandemic, accuracy, bad weather management) Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his government are proving ineffective and dangerous for the country.”

It is indicative of the interest that -apart from the ministers- 220 deputies have been written to speak: 108 from ND, 70 from SYRIZA, 17 from the Movement for Change, 12 from the KKE, 5 from the Hellenic Solution, 6 from MERA25 and the 3 independents.

Today, six members of the government are expected to intervene, namely the Ministers of Civil Protection Takis Theodorikakos, Labor, K. Hatzidakis, Interior Minister M. Voridis, and the Deputy Ministers of Health Mina Gaga, Minister of Foreign Affairs M. Varvitsiotis and Minister of Interior. Petsas.

The debate is expected to conclude at around 8pm on Sunday night with a roll-call vote. In order for the motion of censure to be accepted, it must be approved by an absolute majority of the total number of Members, while no new motion can be submitted before six months have elapsed.
