The plane carrying Malawi’s vice president Saulo Klaus Tsilima and nine other people is missing, BBC Africa reported. The Air Force plane disappeared from radar after taking off from the capital Lilongwe, the country’s presidency said in a brief statement. Presidential secretary Colin Zamba said the military plane did not land as planned and efforts by authorities to contact him have so far been unsuccessful. The plane departed Lilongwe at 9.17am local time and was scheduled to land at Mzuzu International Airport at 10.02am. President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chaquera canceled his scheduled departure for the Bahamas and ordered all relevant agencies to launch a search and rescue operation to locate the plane. Source: RES
