A man was arrested on suspicion of break in and steal a Banco do Brasil branch, located at Praça Capitão Francisco, in Brumado, in the interior of Bahia.
In the early hours of last Wednesday (22), the suspect entered the bank through the roof, opened a safe and stole the weapons stored there but was detained after a tip from the agency’s own security system.
According to the 24th Military Police Battalion (BPM/Brumado), the police quickly arrived at the scene after the alert and surprised the man, who was trying to escape through the back of the agency.
“The military received information about a possible robbery at a bank branch in the region and, when heading to the location, they found the suspect trying to escape. He was immediately restrained by the police,” the PM said in a statement.
During the approach, four 38 caliber revolvers, 31 ammunition of the same caliber and a cell phone were seized. According to the Military Police, all the material was sent to the Brumado Territorial Police Station for examination, and the suspect was arrested in the act.
The case is investigated by the Brumado Civil Police. The man remains at the disposal of Justice.
