Man kills ex and justifies crime with biblical excerpt in MG

The Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) arrested last Friday (17) a 47-year-old man suspected of murdering his ex-partner, 44, with knife and hoe blows in Juatuba, metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte (MG ). The victim was found dead on April 8.

In testimony, the suspect would have justified the crime, according to PCMG, based on a biblical passage that supposedly authorizes the man's revenge in the face of a woman's betrayal.

“For the husband's jealousy is furious, and he will not forgive in the day of revenge”, says the verse.

During the investigation, agents discovered that the suspect had written the passage on the wall of his residence. Furthermore, the police found a Bible at the scene in which this section was highlighted with a highlighter.

Jealousy

According to PCMG, the motive for the crime was jealousy. The couple had been separated for about 8 years. But the suspect remained attentive to the routine and habits of the victim, who was his neighbor, according to delegate Raquel Gontijo.

“He knew his routine, his habits, when he left home and when he returned.” Suspecting that his ex-partner had started a new relationship, the suspect spoke to one of her children, who confirmed the fact.

On the morning of the day of the murder, the suspect waited for the victim to leave the house to go to work and surprised her with a hoe blow to the head and several knife blows to the neck. She died at the scene.

Afterwards, the man dragged his ex-partner's body to a wooded area close to a train line, where he disposed of the victim's belongings to simulate a robbery. However, in addition to the Bible, the PCMG found objects with traces of blood in the suspect's residence, who was arrested preventively and is at the disposal of the Court.
