Map shows the distance that the submarine Titan was from the Titanic; look

The company RMS Titanic Inc., which owns the rights to recover the parts of the Titanic, which sank in 1912, released the image of a map showing the approximate location of the submarine Titan.

The map was designed by the company by capturing sonar images. Despite this, the exact distance between the OceanGate submersible and the Titanic was not specified.

The submersible wreck area, designated by the company as “Titan Debris Field” [Campo de Destroços do Titan, em tradução livre]is surrounded by a dotted circle, very close to the bow of the sunken ship, which still remains intact today.

The image was made available by the company RMS Titanic Inc to a federal court, as part of the investigation into the implosion of the Titan, in the Atlantic Ocean, last month.

“We believe this data is reliable,” said Brian Wainger, a lawyer for the company, adding that RMS Titanic Inc sent the map to the US Coast Guard and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to help with the search for the submersible.

According to the lawyer, the Coast Guard estimates to complete the investigation within a period of 12 to 18 months. Afterwards, a public hearing should be held, where witnesses will be heard.
