Marco Mengoni’s monologue: “What others want cannot count more than what I want”

With the black suit, the magnetic gaze and a crutch close to the left leg, Marco Mengoni debuts at Hyenas reciting a beautiful monologue on the attention we should reserve for ourselves, not caring about the judgment of others. During the episode aired on May 18 on Italia 1 Mengoni, fresh from the release of No Stresshis latest single, and happy to kick off his first stadium tour, takes the floor focusing on the concept of happiness and how to meet your expectations regardless of the murmur around us.

“In these days, having to stay still a little bit, I have thought a lot about my life: moments of joy, pain, fear, enormous satisfaction and then empty, other joys, grief, anger and laughter. I asked myself: am I happy? Sure. Do I happen to feel like shit? Of course, sometimes yes. We all go through bad times, but often I feel bad because of my fault: it happens to me every time I worry about the expectations that others have about me and I try to satisfy them, so as not to disappoint them. And when I realize that what others want doesn’t match what I want and that I’m fighting for something I don’t think is mine, I feel like a co *** one. It happens to everyone, I think: but me I learned that what others want cannot count more than what I want, because in the end everyone does their own accounts always and only with himself. And because the mistakes you make, rightly, you always pay them », Marco Mengoni explains to the de cameras Hyenas.

“This is why I try to judge as little as possible who I am in front of and I know that many consider kindness a synonym of weakness, but in reality being rude is much, much easier than being polite and for me those who are always kind are a kind of superhero … Because, let’s face it, life is a mess, it is for everyone: for some it is a wonderful mess , for others a big mess, and for others an unbearable mess. And so the only thing we can do is try to take care of our personal mess, trying, as far as possible, not to mess up the lives of others too much. ” Strong and necessary words that only confirm the marked sensitivity of an artist capable of enclosing within himself a world of colors that is worth exploring.
