After the passing of Maria Campai42 years old, on September 19ththe investigations were concentrated in Vidana, the last place where she had been seen alive: her sister and her partner had accompanied her from Parma to the city centre, for a “job interview”, without specifying the details. The investigators arrived at the 17-year-old boy who apparently met her on a dating chat and then met her in Vidana thanks to the surveillance cameras of the building in which he lives: the crime would have taken place in the garage of the same building, after an intimate meeting, a short distance from which Campai’s body was found.
According to the Gazzetta di Mantua the boy, born in Italy but of Albanian citizenship, first told investigators on September 24: “I killed her because she asked me for too much money, 200 euros”, but then confessed the crime to the police, explaining it like this: “I wanted to find out what it feels like to kill.” A martial arts enthusiast, the boy apparently killed the victim with his bare hands, having first researched online several times on how to do it. In fact, the computers and cell phones seized contained research on “how to neutralize a person with your bare hands” and also “how to hide a corpse”. For this reason he is accused of premeditation.
Maria Campai would have been hit several times in the face and then strangled, as per the preliminary inspection by the medical examiner Antonello Cirnelli, although the autopsy, which will probably be held at the Carlo Poma hospital in Mantua on Tuesday 1 October, should clarify the exact dynamics . The hearing to validate the arrest of the boy, who is currently in the Beccaria prison in Milan, is scheduled for Monday 30th. The seventeen-year-old, who always remained calm, collaborated by having the victim’s body found in the garden of the abandoned house, under the leaves.
