The ministers of Foreign Affairs of Brazil and Russia, Mauro Vieira and Sergei Lavrov, met this Friday (2nd) to discuss progress in negotiations to stop the war in Ukraine. They met on the sidelines of the meeting between the foreign ministers of the BRICS member countries, in Cape Town, South Africa.
“The meeting focused on Brazil’s efforts regarding ways to resolve the situation in Ukraine,” added the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement this Friday.
“The ministers exchanged views on the global and regional agenda, which are of mutual interest, including the interaction of Russia and Brazil in multilateral platforms, mainly in the United Nations, UN Security Council, BRICS and Group of 20”, concluded the text.
Itamaraty also highlighted the content of the meeting. “(the ministers) also discussed the current stage of the conflict in Ukraine and the proposals under debate with the aim of promoting dialogue between the parties”.
The ministry also informed that the ministers “followed up on the matters discussed during Lavrov’s visit to Brasilia, with emphasis on mechanisms to expand bilateral trade.”
