The Federal Police (PF) arrested, this Monday (22), the removed mayor of the municipality of Rio Largo, Alagoas, Gilberto Gonçalves, because he would be hindering investigations.
According to the PF, investigations show that contracts and payments for the acquisition of material, parts and services made by the municipality with two companies occurred irregularly.
Police say that between 2019 and 2022, 245 withdrawals were made from these companies’ accounts at the cash register. The intention was to deceive the Central Bank.
The transactions, which amount to R$ 49,000, were made shortly after the transfer of funds by the city hall.
The operation is called “Pecunia” and refers to the place where the PF caught four deliveries of values to people linked to the city hall, after being withdrawn by two people who work in companies contracted by the municipality.
