Mean Girls fans, are you there? Lindsay Lohan releases a cover of “Jingle Bell Rock”

Fan of Mean Girlsthis is for you: Lindsay Lohan has just released an official cover of «Jingle Bell Rock“.

If you don’t understand why this is culturally important e immediately iconic, let us explain. In Mean Girls from 2004, there is a scene where Lindsay, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert perform in a “sexy” interpretation of the Christmas song during their high school’s winter Talent Show.

When the audio track of their performance gets jammed, Lindsay’s character, Cady, lead the crowd into an a cappella choir so that the four can finish the choreography. The scene is one of the most notable of the entire film and has given birth to many meme. (Amy Poehler with her video camera? A classic).

Now, almost 20 years after the release of Mean Girls, Lindsay Lohan gives us a nostalgic gift well before the holiday season officially begins. The cover of the actress’s beloved song is part of the soundtrack of his upcoming romantic comedy of Netflix Falling for Christmas.

The film will follow Lindsay as a spoiled, newly engaged hotel heiress who suffers from total amnesia after a skiing accident. The former Glee Chord Overstreet will play the charming cabin owner who takes her into custody in the days leading up to Christmas. The film will be streaming next week, on November 10th. Lindsay is making her comeback as a lead actress with the Christmas movie; she recently she signed a multi-film deal with Netflix which she will give us another one Lohan’s romantic comedy in 2023, entitled Irish Wish.

In an interview with People Earlier this week, Lindsay said she cried when producing Falling for Christmas is finished: “I hadn’t been on the set of a romantic comedy in so long, it was almost a rebirth“, he said.
