The Gilsons are a Brazilian musical trio of current MPB artists formed in 2018. And the name is not by chance: José Gil, Francisco Gil and João Gil are descendants (among children and grandchildren) of Gilberto Gil, an exponent of Brazilian popular music.
The group’s name could also be a pun on the fact that “sons” is the plural of son in English. They mix different genres, such as samba, pop, afoxé, rap, funk and electronic music, in addition to celebrating their Bahian influences and family ancestry.
There are almost 2.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify. In 2022, they released their first studio album: Para Gente Acordar.
Ana Vitoria
A well-known duo when it comes to current Brazilian MPB singers is Anavitória, formed by Ana Clara Caetano and Vitória Falcão, born in Araguaína, city of Tocantins.
