The President of SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Alexis Tsipras, had a meeting today, Tuesday, November 30, with the presidency of the Association of Doctors of Hospitals of Athens and Piraeus.
During the meeting, the presidency of EINAP described in dramatic tones the situation in the NSS, both in terms of care for patients with Covid19 and in terms of hospitalization and treatment of patients with other diseases. It is characteristic that they stressed to Alexis Tsipras that today 148 patients are temporarily intubated outside the ICU in the country’s public hospitals, a fact that has long led to an explosion of mortality, as they do not receive proper care.
At the same time, they made special mention of the cancellation of surgeries and critical treatments for serious diseases due to the monothematic operation of the National Health System.
They emphasized the need for immediate support to the NSS with:
– immediate order of private clinics and military hospitals for treatment and Covid cases
– immediate recruitment with urgent procedures of all runners-up in vacancies in the NSS
– retention in the NSS of 1,500 specialized nurses in special departments, whose contracts expire.
– the return to duty of 530 combat doctors, who have been suspended, with increased health standards and increased testing.
