Meryl Streep and Martin Short, who together would make us dream

The two were sitting next to each other at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, where the event was held on September 15, and where – at least judging by the images that portray them together – they seemed to have a lot of fun. Chatter and laughter characterized their evening, once again fueling an already denied gossip according to which they were more than friends.

The first rumors began to circulate last January, after the Golden Globe Awards, where Streep and Short appeared particularly close: “They’re just friends, nothing more”the denial by his spokesman. Short himself, shortly after, returned to the issue by intervening in Bill Mahler’s podcast, where he underlined that the protagonists of Only Murders In The Building, the TV series where they play the roles of Oliver Putnam and Loretta Durkin, they are not a couple.

If there was something more, after all, it doesn’t necessarily have to be shared, but above all there would be nothing wrong since both are officially free. Meryl Streep has announced her separation from her husband Don Grummer in October 2023, after 45 years old of shared life, even if – the actress revealed at the time – things had ended six years earlier. The actress and Grummer, a sculptor by profession, had met in 1978 thanks to the actress’s brother. At that time, Streep was going through a difficult time due to the death of her boyfriend, the actor John Cazale, and with Grummer she found serenity again. A great love, crowned by the birth of four children: Louisa, Grace, Mamie and Henry.

Even in Martin Short’s past there is only one marriage, the one with his colleague Nancy Dolman, died of cancer in 2010. The couple married in 1980 and had three children: Katherine, Oliver and Henry. Has the time come for a new heart-pounding for the two actors?
