The Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu said after today’s meeting with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken that the important thing in the issue of sale of F-16 fighter jets in Ankara is whether the Biden administration will show resolve.
Cavusoglu also said he urged the White House to maintain policy of equal distances towards Turkey and Greece.
He also said that during the meeting he had with Anthony Blinken, he invited the US Secretary of State to visit Turkey.
Earlier today, Cavusoglu made no secret of his optimism that Washington would approve the sale of F-16s to Ankara, citing the “common strategic interests” of the US and Turkey.
The US administration is in favor of selling F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, but top congressional officials strongly oppose it.
