Mexico: Consumer confidence rises to 46.7 in August, its highest level since 2019

He Consumer Confidence Indicator (ICC) of Mexico has risen four tenths in August, rising to 46.7 points from 46.3 in July. This is the highest level recorded by the indicator since March 2019.

The data, published jointly by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) and the Bank of Mexico, reports that monthly increases were registered in the five components that comprise it. Among these indicators, the highest score was obtained by the expected economic situation of the members of a household within 12 months with respect to the current situation, reaching 58 points.

In the eighth month of 2023 and in seasonally adjusted terms, the ICC showed an annual increase of 5.9 points.

USD/MXN reaction

He USD/MXN has risen in the European opening towards the zone 17.29/30, reaching its highest level in a month. Dollar strength on all fronts is the main guide for this move. At time of writing, after the data, the pair is trading above 17.24, gaining 0.39% on the day.
