The death toll from 46 rose to collapse of the apartment building in Miami, as rescue teams removed ten more bodies from the wreckage, officials said today Wednesday (7/7).
Search and rescue workers continue to search the rubble of the demolished Champlain Towers South building in Surfside, in hot and dry weather, while the tropical storm Elsa that hit western Florida on the opposite side of the State, is moving away from the area, notes the APE-MPE.
Rescuers have expanded their search after the controlled demolition of the remaining building on Sunday night.
“The team continues to move to places where the bodies were found, which were not accessible before the demolition,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniela Levine Kava.
He noted that 94 people who may have been inside the building when a large part of it collapsed on June 24 are still missing.
