Military helicopter crashes in Turkey: 10 dead – Among them the commander of the 8th Army Corps

At least ten are dead from the crash of the military helicopter that occurred on Thursday to the southeast Turkey, with the commander of the 8th Army Corps among them, as reported by Anadolu.

It was initially announced that they had lost their lives in the crash nine people and four were injured, however another person succumbed to his injuries.

As confirmed by Erdogan’s government partner, Devlet Bahcelim, via twitter, One of the dead is the commander of the 8th Army Corps, Orman Erbas.

The helicopter took off from Bingol province. Contact with him was lost and investigations were launched to locate him.

The helicopter, a Cougar built by Airbus, took off from the city of Bingιόl bound for Tatvan, at 12.55 Greek time. The search and rescue operations started when the contact with it was lost at 13.25 Greek time.

Authorities were able to locate the crash site after developing a drone, a reconnaissance aircraft and a helicopter.
