Military police officer killed after confrontation in Baixada Fluminense

Rio de Janeiro State Military Police sergeant Vitor da Silva Tenório died after being shot in a confrontation in Baixada Fluminense, this Saturday (31).

According to the PM, agents from the 21st BPM (São João de Meriti) were policing the Jardim Sumaré neighborhood, in São João de Meriti, when they were attacked by armed criminals, generating a confrontation.

The police officer was shot in the neck and taken to the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in Jardim Íris, but did not survive. A suspect was also admitted to the same health unit and died.

In the action, the police also seized a 9 mm caliber pistol and narcotics to be accounted for.

Sergeant Tenório was 42 years old and had been a member of the force for 18 years. He leaves behind his wife, a son and a stepdaughter. There is no information about his burial yet.

The Baixada Fluminense Homicide Department is investigating the case.
