A militia member linked to former military police officer Ronnie Lessa, confessed killer of councilwoman Marielle Franco, is the target of an anti-money laundering operation for the militia in Rio de Janeiro, this Thursday morning (3).
The action targets Luiz Paulo de Lemos Júnior, known as “Juninho Pacifier”. He is being investigated for being part of a militia that has been operating for years in Gardênia Azul, in the west zone of Rio.
The investigated man, arrested red-handed at the end of 2023 for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, maintains links with Ronnie Lessa, Maxwell Simões Corrêa (“Suel”), Fábio da Silveira Santana (“Fábio Caveira”) and other militiamen, from agreement with the authorities.
“Juninho Chupeta” is also named as the driver of the attack that resulted in the death of André Henrique da Silva Souza, known as “Zóio”, and his girlfriend Juliana Oliveira, in 2014.
Lessa and former Rio de Janeiro councilor Cristiano Girão are responsible for the murders and are awaiting trial in pre-trial detention.
In this case, Marielle’s confessed killer is named as one of the perpetrators of the shooting. Girão, according to the complaint from the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro, was the person who ordered the crime.
This morning (3), agents carried out four warrants and search and seizure at addresses linked to “Juninho Chupeta” in the capital of Rio and in Petrópolis, a mountainous region of the state.

The action is carried out by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro together with the Specialized Action Group to Combat Organized Crime of the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (GAECO/MPRJ).
