Ministry of Agriculture determines collection of bean batches of two brands

The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) determined the collection of four batches of beans from the Da Mamãe and Sanes brands this Friday (19). According to the folder, the products are unfit for consumption.

The affected batches are: batch 51 of colored beans and batch 06 of black beans, both from the Da Mamãe brand; and lots 030423 and 080323 of Sanes brand black beans. The ministry claims that the products have a percentage of moldy and burned grains above 15%, which indicates poor quality and poses a risk to the health of consumers.

“These grains may contain mycotoxins that are harmful to the body, causing food poisoning and allergic reactions,” explained the director of the Inspection Department for Products of Plant Origin, Hugo Caruso, in a statement.

A CNN contacted the two companies responsible for the food. In a note, Sanes Brasil responded that it is taking steps to collect the aforementioned batches from points of sale (see full text below). The company responsible for Da Mamãe products has not yet returned a response.

previous operation

The bean batches were identified in a previous operation that resulted in the seizure of more than 150 tons of beans in the state of Rio de Janeiro, according to the ministry. The products were then submitted to laboratory analyzes which indicated that the foods did not meet the quality and safety standards required for human consumption by the Ministry.

Beans unfit for consumption were found in the state of Rio de Janeiro and in the Federal District. The ministry recommends that consumers observe the packaging of the products before purchase and, if unfit for consumption are identified, the complaint be made through the folder’s service telephone (61) 3218-2089 or through the service channels consumer protection bodies.

The Ministry of Agriculture also pointed out that consumers and restaurant professionals should verify the presence of the referred batches at home or in stocks. If any of the batches are detected, consumption must be stopped immediately, advises the Map.

Nota Sanes Brasil

Sanes Brasil is aware of the determination of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply and we are taking measures to collect lots 080323 and 030423 from the exhibition sites for sale, in order to comply with all requirements.

SANES has been in the market for 23 years, has always taken care of the quality of its products and makes itself available for further clarification, if necessary.
