Ministry of Health says that ‘changes in logistics will not affect the start of pediatric vaccination’

The Ministry of Health released a note this Friday (14) rebutting the delay in the delivery of childhood vaccines against the coronavirus to the states. According to the folder, the shipment will take place in less than 48 hours after arrival at the Distribution Center.

Some states complained about the delay in receiving doses. The ministry began distributing the batch of 1.2 million doses of Pfizer in the early hours of Friday (14). However, some flights had to be rescheduled.

Eight capitals and the Federal District already have the vaccination schedule set and fear delays that change the schedule. The Ministry of Health, however, denies that this will occur: “Specific changes in the logistics of flights will not affect the beginning of pediatric vaccination”, says the folder in the note.

São Paulo intends to apply the first dose this Friday in a symbolic event to mark the beginning of immunization in children aged 5 to 11 years. As the Pfizer doses arrived in Brazil directly in São Paulo, the São Paulo government did not depend on the distribution of doses through flights, like the other states.

See the status of delivery of doses:

  • 10 states have reported receiving delays so far: BA, SC, AM, PR, PI, PA, MS, MT, AC, GO
  • 5 states and the DF inform that the forecast is still on schedule: DF, MA, RO, RR, ES, PB
  • 6 states have already received pediatric doses by the Ministry of Health: SP, MG, RN, RJ, TO, PE

See the note below:

The Ministry of Health anticipated the shipment of pediatric vaccines to the states and all doses will be delivered in less than 48 hours after arrival at the Distribution Center. This process normally takes 5 to 9 days. The distribution began at dawn on Friday (14) and vaccines are on their way to the states. Punctual changes in the logistics of flights will not affect the start of pediatric vaccination, which still depends on the quality control of the competent bodies.
