Electronic ankle bracelet for those who are prohibited from approaching women due to domestic violence. This is what a recommendation published by the Ministry of Justice, through the National Council for Criminal and Penitentiary Policy (CNPCP), provides. The act is in the Official Gazette of the Union, this Wednesday (17).
The president of the Council, judge Douglas Martins, explains in the recommendation that monitoring should be prioritized in the case of aggressors who comply with an urgent protected measure, when a minimum distance is imposed for them to approach their wives.
The recommendation is not mandatory and can be followed according to the judge's understanding of each case. The text provides for the basis of the determination to be established; the limited circulation perimeter of the monitored person; circulation and collection times; and the maximum period for reassessing the need to maintain the measure.
Among the reasons for the measure, the CNPCP highlights that more and more women are being attacked by their partners and need measures from the State to stay safe.
According to the National Council of Justice, between 2022 and 2023, there was an increase of around 20% in the number of urgent protective measures granted due to the practice of domestic and family violence.
