Moët & Chandon and Diversity at the Venice Film Festival 2021 with “Toast for a Cause”

It accomplishes ten years of sponsorship between the historic Maison of Champagne and the Biennale Cinema: the long liaison between the world of arts and entertainment and Moët & Chandon – which for almost a century has been toasting the successes of entire generations of cinema and is the symbol of the celebration of moments that have made history – returns to the Lido from 1 to 11 September with a brand activism project in collaboration with Diversity to promote the culture of inclusion.

The secular, complex and refined glamor of which Moët & Chandon is a symbol and ambassador in the world – and which has contributed to building the legendary aesthetics of Cinema in over a century of cameos, red carpets, parties, ceremonies and premieres all over the world – returns to Venice with the format «Toast for a Cause». An international format, created in 2009, for which guests toast in support of a charity and for each toast raised, Moët & Chandon makes a donation in their name. The “Toast for a Cause” touches all the most prestigious international events of which the brand is a partner, and enriches the allure of the great Moët & Chandon events with a strongly concrete vision rooted in the historical moment.

In the year that most of all has brought to the center of the collective debate the socio-cultural issues on which current balances, dynamics and sentiment are being redesigned, thea Maison chooses to raise the glasses and the spotlight on inclusion and diversity, inaugurating a collaboration with one of the most active non-profit organizations in the field of awareness and education on the subject: Moët & Chandon lands at the 78th Venice International Film Festival together with Diversity, a non-profit committed to spreading the culture of inclusion and in promoting a valuing representation of people by gender, gender identity, sexual and emotional orientation, age, ethnicity and disability, fostering a vision of the world that considers multiplicity and differences as values and precious resources for people and companies.

First ever to subvert the establishment thanks to grandson of Claude Moët, founder of the Maison, Jean-Rémy Moët, who had the vision of “sharing the magic of Champagne with the rest of the world” and thanks also to the heterogeneity of his portfolio with a varied and inclusive proposal of cuvées that respond to different moments and palates , Moët & Chandon has always been ready to take up the challenge of bringing its heritage into the contemporary world through an innovative vision open to the contamination of time.

After inaugurating the partnership at the Diversity Media Awards 2021, which awarded Italian personalities and media products of entertainment and information in different categories, Moët & Chandon and Diversity present an initiative at the Lido in support of the Diversity research project dedicated to the enhancing and inclusive representation of people in cinema. From this year, in fact, Diversity will take care of integrating the precious research work already underway for more than ten years on the front of inclusive representation in media products with a further study of qualitative analysis on inclusive language in translations and adaptations from others. idioms and on the representation of different voices in Italian dubbing.

This important project will be developed with the support of Moët & Chandon and is the essential prerequisite for lay the foundations for a work of enhancement of inclusive language in translations and adaptations and in the presence of voices in dubbing that respect in particular the differences in gender and gender identity, orientation, age, ethnicity and disability. The study provides for an analysis of the processes that determine this representation in cinematographic products, in all areas in which this can be relevant, in the belief that cinema is a fundamental cultural vehicle for building a truly inclusive collective imagination, in which all people are protagonists.
