Moraes extends investigation against Bolsonaro for associating Covid vaccine with AIDS

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), extended, this Wednesday (31), the investigation that investigates a possible crime by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) for having associated the vaccine against Covid-19 with the aids.

Moraes responded to a request made by the Federal Police (PF) and supported by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and extended the investigation for another 60 days.

“Considering the need to continue the investigations, under the terms requested by the Federal Police and taken over by the Attorney General’s Office, I extend the present investigation for another 60 days”, decided the minister.

The Federal Police asked the STF, this month, to extend the investigation so that the investigations could be finalized – among them, Bolsonaro’s hearing at the end of the investigation. According to the delegate conducting the inquiry, “the occurrence of manipulations and distortions of the contents of the publications that served as the basis for the themes propagated by the President of the Republic” was identified, based on reports and witness testimonies.

In a statement sent to the STF this Monday (29), the deputy attorney general of the Republic, Lindôra Araujo, argues that the steps requested by the PF with the extended deadline collaborate to “better detailing the factual scenario and its circumstances, notably with the reasons and possible new evidence to be presented by the President of the Republic regarding the investigated facts”.

The police investigation against Bolsonaro was opened in February this year. The PF investigates whether the president committed a pandemic crime, a preventive health measure violation and incitement to commit a crime. The measure meets a process opened in the STF in December last year.

The investigation concerns the live made by President Bolsonaro on October 21, 2021, when he read what would be a news that vaccinated against Covid-19 were developing the acquired immunity syndrome – Aids.
