Forty-two people were killed or missing after two attacks in central Gaza this Saturday (22), according to the media office of the Hamas-controlled government.
The agency’s director, Ismail Al-Thawabtah, told CNN that the attacks took place in the Al Shati camp and the neighboring Al Tuffah neighborhood.
The Civil Defense Directorate said 19 bodies were recovered following the attack in Al Tuffah, where more than 35 people were injured.
Authorities also said several people were left under rubble after Israeli aircraft struck a house near the Batsh cemetery in Tuffah, which is east of Gaza City.
The other attack was on a residential block in Al Shati, also near Gaza City.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), in a brief statement on Saturday, said its fighter jets struck sites of “Hamas military infrastructure” in the Gaza City area.
The Israeli military did not specify where the attacks took place. A CNN looking for more details.
Another attack leaves 22 dead, says Red Cross
It comes after the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said at least 22 people were killed in an attack that targeted civilians sheltering in southern Gaza on Friday.
The attack hit tents of displaced people in the Palestinian city of Mawasi — parts of the municipality have already been identified by the Israeli military as a humanitarian zone.
The IDF is reviewing the incident, but stressed that initial investigations found “no indication” that its military was responsible for the incident.
