In the first 19 days of January, the city of Rio de Janeiro carried out more than one million rapid tests in 15 testing centers throughout the capital, in addition to family clinics and health posts.
According to the municipal health department, 1,003,332 tests were carried out in the capital of Rio de Janeiro during this period. On average 100,000 people are being tested per day. The positivity rate, according to the Rio Covid-19 panel, this week, is at 50%.
This Thursday (20th), the 16th care center for patients with Influenza Syndrome in the city was inaugurated, on the premises of the Ronaldo Gazolla Municipal Hospital, in the North Zone. The secretary’s recommendation is that only people with symptoms such as fever, chills, cough, runny nose, sore throat, headache, change in smell and / or taste, look for one of the testing centers.
The city of Rio already has 104,712 confirmed cases of Covid-19 this year. In twenty days, the number of cases corresponds to 37% of the total registered last year. The number of hospitalizations also continues to increase. At the moment, 868 people are hospitalized in the SUS network in the capital and another 44 are waiting in line for a hospital bed.
