The retailer “M.Video-Eldorado” spoke about how his project about the collection and processing of equipment is developing.
Now there is a program for the permanent collection and recycling of equipment for up to 600 stores, which is more than half of the entire retail network. In the first six months of 2021, the company was able to increase the collection of equipment and batteries by 3.5 times compared to last year – more than 700 tons of equipment and 16 tons of batteries were sent for recycling.
The retailer has been running recycling programs for all types of household appliances and batteries for over two years to reduce hazardous waste.
Since the start of the Smart Recycling programs in M.Video and Dispose of Properly, Eldorado has collected and sent for recycling more than 1,800 tons (this is how much 40 Boeing 737 aircraft weighs) or 180 thousand units of household appliances.
Most often, mobile phones, washing machines, 15-30 inch TVs, irons, kettles are handed over for recycling. The equipment received from consumers is registered in a special system and transferred to one of the seven partner factories, the received raw materials are used for the production of new goods.
The company plans to continue developing the program, and plans to implement collection of equipment in all regions of its presence by 2025.
