An elderly woman, aged 80, died and her daughter, aged 54, was seriously injured after being run over twice by a driver in the district of Algodão Manso, in Frei Miguelinho, in Agreste de Pernambuco. The accident was recorded on Sunday (29), during a political event.
At the time, an ambulance from the Frei Miguelinho Mobile Emergency Care Service (SAMU) was reportedly prevented from providing assistance to the victims due to a political demonstration that was blocking the passage. In a video circulating on social media, it is possible to see that people do not open a path to help the victims.
According to the Pernambuco Civil Police (PCPE), the women were sitting in front of the residence, observing the political act, when they were hit by the vehicle.
According to the bulletin registered by the 132nd Police Station of Frei Miguelinho, the driver ran over the two and, before fleeing, hit them a second time. The victims were rescued, but the older one, due to the complexity of the clinical condition, did not survive.
According to police, the 49-year-old driver fled the scene. According to members of the public, the driver performed dangerous maneuvers, such as “hobby riding”, on public roads.
The Civil Police opened an investigation to investigate the case and locate the driver.
Disruption of assistance
In a video that went viral on the networks, a rescuer from SAMU in Frei Miguelinho, who identified himself as Marcílio, commented on the case:
“We went to the village of Algodão do Manso and came across a motorcade, which I, with my team, were prevented from passing. I was cursed with profanity and was even afraid to get out of the vehicle, of being attacked,” said the SAMU employee.
Despite the video recorded on social media, the Civil Police of Pernambuco reported, in a note, that, to date, they have not located the information in the complaint. THE
PCPE reinforced the importance of recording the Police Report so that investigations can be carried out and cases resolved.
Wanted by CNN Frei Miguelinho’s SAMU commented that it is still investigating the information.
