A woman was arrested in the act last Friday (9) in Várzea Grande (MT), on suspicion of torture her 2-year-old son. According to police, the mother, who was not named, took the boy to school for seven days with his injured arm and dressed with a cold blouse to hide the injury.
The aggressions occurred in Santo Antônio de Leverger (MT), a city where the mother and son live with other family members. The arrest occurred after police officers received information that a child had been admitted to the city emergency room with a fracture in the arm.
The police reported that, even with the fracture, the mother still assaulted her son with slaps and pinches, as well as removing the venous access of medicines.
The boy also had a purple eye and had nail marks on his belly, cigarette burns and bites. According to the Civil Police, the mother submitted her son to intense physical and mental suffering as a way to punish him.
The child had a bruised arm for seven days. The woman claimed that her son had suffered “only” a domestic fall. Police say the boy cried in pain at school when they noticed the arm injury. The Guardianship Council was called and forced the mother to take her son to the hospital, where the need for surgery was confirmed.
The mother was filed in the act for the crime of torture and was asked to court for the arrest in the act to be converted into pre -trial detention.
